Ministries 101 At Work
The following article gives a "snap-shot"of thedaily work in which Ministries 101 is involved.
Faith Based Dorm Re-Entry Initiative
The Faith Based Dorm Initiative at the Hutchins' State Jail is our largest and most involved re-entry initiative. The State of Texas allows us to occupy a dorm housing 58 men. The FBDI program is 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The men selected for the program have 6 to 9 months before they are released.
We provide programming to prepare these men spiritually, emotionally, economically, and psychologically for the transitions that they will face
once they leave prison walls. The unique thing about this program is that those selected for it are allowing us to continue with them for 6 to 12 months after they are released. We work with them to secure transitional housing, clothing, employment, and connection with a nurturing church. We also work with our clients through a mentoring program designed to aid them as they deal with the various addictions and life-controlling issues present in their lives.
A program of this magnitude cannot exist without collaborative partnerships. We are so thankful to our partners in ministry, Inside Coordinator James Reed &Dallas Leadership Foundation, Prestonwood Baptist Church, New Life Behavior Ministries, Skillman Church of Christ, Devon Wallace and Duncanville Church of Christ, Rusty Coffee and East/West Ministries, Sie Davis and the Overcomers program, Lover's Lane UMC, Alpha International, and Anthem: Strong Families for the volunteers and teaching materials that they provide our FBDI men.
Ministries 101 supplies administrative coordination, curriculum design and implementation, case management, and teaching support for the Faith Based Dorm at the Hutchins' State jail.
